What's a Threeps??

So, you're probably wondering how I came up with the name threeps.net for my website. Well, first of all, I didn't exactly come up with it (the original name, that is). It all goes back to college, where I was on the Yale Ultimate Frisbee team, Süperfly. During my freshman year, I was given the nickname "Threeps." Now, where did this come from? Well, if you must know... I have been told (by many people, so it must be true) that when I run I have a tendency to keep my arms very stiff. Some might call it robotic, but I disagree. Anyway, during one tournament, people started calling me 3PO, as in C-3PO from the movie Star Wars. This soon morphed into Threeps, which I have to say I find much more endearing. So, throughout my time in college, many of my friends (from the ultimate team) called me Threeps. This website (well, a much much earlier version of it, but at least the name) also started during college, and so a natural choice for it at the time was threeps.net (threeps.com was taken, but that website refers to a company named 3P's, as in the letter P three times). I actually really like it as a website name, rather than just naming the site directly after my given name. Anyway, now that I'm out of college, almost no one calls me Threeps anymore, except when I talk to some old friends. But, the name lives on, and now the story does, too. So, if you ever run into me, feel free to call me Threeps. I'll give you a weird look, but that's ok.
